France: Rail workers striking in Ile-de-France through Dec. 1

Rail workers employed by SNCF striking across Ile-de-France, France, through Dec. 1. Transilien, RER service disruptions reported.

Warning

Railway workers employed by the National Society of the French Railways (SNCF) are conducting a strike across Ile-de-France through Dec. 1. The purpose of the action is to denounce alleged understaffing and refusals to permit leave. The strike will almost certainly impact services on the Regional Express Network (Reseau Express Regional, RER) and Transilien lines. As of Nov. 30, disruptions are reported on the Transilien, L, J, and N lines and the RER C line. Disruptions are expected to spread to the Transilien lines U and H, RER D, E, and U lines on Dec. 1. However, officials assert that some services on Transilien, notably line J, will likely return to normal on Dec. 1. The RER A, B, K, P, and R lines, Transilien K, P and R lines and Paris transport authority's (Regie autonome des transports parisiens, RATP) metro's will remain unaffected by the work stoppage.

Rail disruptions expected on impacted lines are almost certain through the end of the day on Dec. 1. Delays and irregular service on additional Transilien and RER lines are likely.

Consult updated train schedules before departing for travel on the Transilien or RER systems. Allow additional time if using Transilien or RER trains.
