France: Unionized labor activists to conduct protest march in Paris Nov. 9

Unionized workers to protest march from Bastille to UNEDIC headquarters in Paris, France, from 18:30 Nov. 9. Disruptions likely.

Warning

Unionized workers from several unions plan to hold a protest march in central Paris from 18:30 Nov. 9 to pressure the government to maintain unemployment insurance protections. Participants will depart from Bastille at 18:30 and march to the National Professional Union for Employment in Industry and Trade (UNEDIC) headquarters on Rue Traversiere. It is unclear exactly what route participants will take or how many demonstrators may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the march zone. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
