Anti-LGBTQ group to protest outside Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 12:00 Nov. 15. Increased security likely.

Informational

Anti-LGBTQ group Gerakan Nasional Anti LGBT (Granati LGBT) is planning to protest outside Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium on Jalan Asia Afrika in Jakarta from 12:00 Nov. 15. The purpose is to demand British rock band Coldplay cancel its concert at the GBK Stadium, scheduled to begin at 21:00, over its support for the LGBTQ community. The activists are also threatening to commit arson during the concert, although authorities are likely to heighten security to prevent disruptions to the event. Organizers expect around a thousand participants to join the demonstration, although actual attendance is likely to be dozens to a few hundred people.

A heightened security presence is almost certain around GBK Stadium. Associated transport disruptions from the protest are probable, especially if demonstrators march along or block roadways. Isolated scuffles may occur between police and activists, posing incidental risks to bystanders.

Avoid the protest as a precaution and to minimize travel delays. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow additional travel time near the protest site. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
