Kosovo: Activists to demonstrate at Hotel Sirius in central Pristina Nov. 29

Activists to protest at Hotel Sirius in Pristina, Kosovo, from 14:00 Nov. 29. Heightened security, localized transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Activists affiliated with the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo plan to protest at the Hotel Sirius on Agim Ramadani in Pristina from 14:00 Nov. 29. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce a visit by President of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) Ekaterina Trendafilova. The protest coincides with Trendafilova's press conference at the hotel, which is slated to begin at 14:30. It is unclear how many demonstrators may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near Hotel Sirius. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.

The KSC - officially called the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor's Office - is an international legal body with its main office in The Hague. The agency prosecutes members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) accused of war crimes. The KSC has pursued a number of high-profile prosecutions, including that of former Kosovo president Hashim Thaci. The Social Democratic Party of Kosovo opposes the KSC's prosecutions, accusing it of being an undemocratic foreign institution.
