New Caledonia: Residents' blockade at Ouanaham Airport in Lifou prompts cancellation of Air Caledonie domestic flights Nov. 21-22

Air Caledonie cancels domestic flights at Ouanaham Airport, Lifou, New Caledonia, Nov. 21-22 due to residents' blockade. Reconfirm flights.

Informational

Air Caledonie (TY) has announced the cancellation of domestic flights at Lifou's Ouanaham Airport (LIF) Nov. 21-22 due to a residents' blockade. Participants are demanding a reduction in ticket and freight prices by Air Caledonie. At least eight flights between Noumea and Lifou are affected by the cancellations.

Additional cancellations of Air Caledonie flights at LIF are possible over the coming days as negotiations continue. Protestors may withdraw the blockade at short notice if talks with airline officials succeed. Increased demand for alternative transport, including ferry services, is probable. Residual flight disruptions are possible even after normal services resume as the airline works to clear passenger backlogs.

Confirm flights if traveling via LIF through Nov. 22. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
