Authorities will likely maintain an enhanced security posture in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, through at least late November following a suspected suicide attack on Nov. 26. Emerging reports indicate unidentified assailants drove a vehicle into security forces at a market in the city, killing at least one person and injuring as many as 21 others. Officials have provided no further details concerning the incident. While some sources assert that the Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the incident, such reports cannot as yet be independently verified.

Security-related transport disruptions and movement restrictions are likely over the coming days. Local residents could stage demonstrations to protest the attack or to voice any public dissatisfaction with the government's response to it. Further similar incidents cannot be ruled out.
