Iceland: Air traffic controllers plan strike at Keflavik International Airport Dec. 20 /update 1

Unionized air traffic controllers to strike at Keflavik International Airport, Iceland, 04:00-10:00 Dec. 20. Air travel disruptions likely.

Warning

Unionized air traffic controllers at Keflavik International Airport (KEF) plan to strike 04:00-10:00 Dec. 20 over stalled salary negotiations. This is the fourth work stoppage in the last two weeks; the previous three stoppages resulted in widespread cancellations and disruptions.

Unless averted, the strike will likely lead to significant flight disruptions, including delays and cancellations. Disruptions could extend for several hours beyond the scheduled work stoppage as staff resume their duties and deal with any backlogs.

Re-confirm flight status if booked to fly via KEF Dec. 20. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
