Unionized firefighters plan to hold a protest march in central Pristina from 10:30 Dec. 14 to demand salary raises and improved working conditions. Demonstrators will gather at the Youth and Sports Center (Pallati i Rinise) parking lot at 10:30 before marching via Zahir Pajaziti Square to the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for a rally at 11:00. It is unclear how many participants may attend.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the march route. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the Government of the Republic of Kosovo building. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
