Authorities at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center have issued a tsunami advisory for coastal areas of multiple countries in the Pacific rim early Dec. 3 following a 7.6-magnitude off Mindanao, Philippines, late Dec. 2. The following advisories are in effect:

Tsunami waves of 1-3 meters (3-10 feet) are possible in coastal areas of:

  • Philippines

Tsunami waves of 0.3-1 meters (1-3 feet) are possible in coastal areas of:

  • American Samoa

  • Mainland China

  • Micronesia

  • Cook Islands

  • Fiji

  • French Polynesia

  • Hawaii, US

  • Indonesia

  • Japan

  • Kiribati

  • Northern Marianas

  • Papua New Guinea

  • South Korea

  • Samoa

  • Solomon Islands

  • Taiwan

  • Tokelau

  • Tonga

  • Tuvalu

  • Vanuatu

  • Wallis and Futuna

Authorities have stated the forecast could be expanded or rescinded as needed.

If in coastal areas of impacted countries and territories be prepared to move to higher ground. Heed the directives of authorities.
