A severe magnitude-7.6 offshore earthquake occurred off northeastern Mindanao at around 22:37 Dec. 2. Significant damage and casualties are possible. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has stated tsunami waves are possible within 1000 km (621 miles) of the epicenter of the temblor.

Vacate multistory buildings if operating in affected areas until authorities confirm their structural integrity. Plan accordingly for aftershocks. If in coastal areas, move to higher ground.
