Climate activist groups plan to demonstrate in London and other urban centers, Dec. 9. Climate Justice UK will lead other groups to demand increased government action on climate change. The events are timed to coincide with the COP28 summit in Dubai.
In London, protesters will gather at the BP headquarters in St. James Square at 12:00. Participation is likely to range from several hundred to the low thousands. Protesters may also target central landmarks, sporting and cultural events, major roads, and other businesses and research sites associated with fossil fuels. Protests may include blocking pavements and spraying paint over buildings.
