Australia: Residual rail service disruptions likely to persist in Victoria through Jan. 25 following early morning V/Line labor strike
Lingering commuter rail disruptions likely in Victoria, Australia, through Jan. 25 following early morning strike by V/Line employees.
Commuter rail service disruptions in Victoria will likely continue through much of the day Jan. 25 following an early morning labor strike by V/Line employees. Although the walk-out took place only between the hours of 03:00 and 07:00, V/Line officials expect that delays of up to 120 minutes or more, as well as cancellations, will persist throughout the day. Transport officials have also advised that limited coach replacement service will run on each line for essential journeys, stopping at all V/Line stations but not at any metropolitan stations, including Footscray and Sunshine.
Demand for alternative means of transport will likely be higher through Jan. 25. Available bus and rail services may experience overcrowding.
Confirm bus and other transport service schedules. Seek alternative means of transport if necessary. Allow additional time to reach destinations in Victoria through late Jan. 25.
