A collision occurred between Japan Airlines (JL) Flight 516 and a Japan Coast Guard aircraft on the runway at Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND) Jan. 2, resulting in a fire. The emergency response is ongoing as firefighters are trying to extinguish the blaze. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated from Flight 516. Five out of the six crew of Japan Coast Guard aircraft are still unaccounted for as one crew member managed to escape from the aircraft.
Flight disruptions are likely at HND through Jan. 3.
