Additional water outages scheduled in Penang, Malaysia, 23:30 Jan. 29-15:30 Jan. 30. Commercial disruptions possible.

Warning

The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) announced additional water supply outages for parts of George Town and Seberang Perai in Penang 23:30 Jan. 29-15:30 Jan. 30. Water disruptions due to repair works have been affecting 120,000 customers since Jan. 23 following a major leak in an underwater pipeline section in Sungai Perai, Butterworth. Authorities will restore the water supply temporarily by 18:30 Jan. 28 to allow affected customers to stock up on water before the scheduled outages. Affected areas include parts of Northeast and Southwest Penang Island districts and Central and South Sebarang Perai districts. Delays in service resumption are possible.

Authorities are deploying water tankers to the affected areas. Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely heavily on municipal water to maintain operations.

Stock up on drinking water. Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
