Togo: Opposition leaders plan protest march in Lome, Jan. 27

Dynamics for the Majority of the People (DMP) opposition group is planning a protest march in Lome on Jan. 27. Supporters are being asked to meet at Rond Point Be Gakpoto at 10:00 before marching down Boulevard Malfakassa towards the Church of the Assemblies of God of Be-kpota. The DMP is protesting various political and economic issues, including the alleged illegal extension of the mandate of the deputies of the current National Assembly.

Increased security and localized traffic disruptions are likely along the march route. Clashes are possible if security forces attempt to disperse the demonstrators.
