Officials restart rail services previously halted between New York, N.Y., and Philadelphia, Pa., US, due to communications issue Jan. 12.
Amtrak and New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ Transit) authorities have confirmed that train services in the Northeast Corridor that were previously suspended due to a communications issue have restarted as of 12:00 Jan. 12. Amtrak service between Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station (NYP) in New York, New York, and William H. Gray III 30th Street Station (PHL) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has now resumed; however, Amtrak officials have cautioned that residual delays are likely. Additionally, NJ Transit authorities have stated that all train services on the Northeast Corridor line, Raritan Valley Line, and North Jersey Coast Line have resumed and are subject to delays of up to 30 minutes. Midtown Direct service has also restarted into New York's Penn Station.
Residual train disruptions are likely on the impacted lines. Increased demand for alternative modes of transportation is likely in the Northeast Corridor, particularly between New York, N.Y., and Philadelphia, over the coming hours.
Confirm train schedules and prepare for residual rail service disruptions if planning to travel on lines operating between New York, N.Y., and Philadelphia Jan. 12. Allow extra time to reach your destination. Consider booking alternative modes of transportation for time-sensitive travel.
