Police responded to reports of a crashed vehicle on the route near Burbank Boulevard in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood shortly after 05:00 and reportedly found the vehicle in question and its driver shot. Authorities subsequently closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 405 in the area to conduct an associated investigation. Officials did not immediately comment on the medical status of the driver or release information regarding any suspects. Authorities also did not immediately indicate when the closed northbound lanes of Interstate 405 would reopen to traffic.

Officials will almost certainly maintain a heightened security presence in the affected area for the duration of the investigation.
