Canada, US: Pro-Ukrainian activists to demonstrate in major cities Feb. 24

Activists plan rallies supporting Ukraine in urban centers across Canada and US on Feb. 24; increased security, disruptions likely.

Informational

Activists are planning demonstrations in support of Ukraine across Canada and the US on Feb. 24 to commemorate the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Activists will gather to demand increased support for Ukraine and the ending of hostilities. Likely protest locations include public squares, city centers, government buildings, major transport hubs, diplomatic offices, and Russian and Ukrainian embassies or consulates. Activists advocating for similar causes could participate in solidarity with pro-Ukrainian groups. Occasional counterdemonstrations could occur.

Authorities will likely deploy additional personnel to monitor gatherings; localized disruptions are likely near demonstration sites. In case of counterdemonstrations, clashes between rival groups, as well as between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, cannot be ruled out.

Exercise caution near protests and protest sites. Heed instructions from authorities. Plan for localized road travel delays should protests occur. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disruption may occur.
