Informational

As of Feb. 28, authorities in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines continue to search for two missing US citizens, who they believe were kidnapped and likely killed by three men between Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Officials said the two foreign travelers, a married couple from Virginia, were inside their sailboat in Grande Anse Beach, Grenada, on Feb. 18, when the three suspects, who had just escaped from a police detention center, entered their boat, kidnapped them, and forced them to sail towards Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. At some point during the journey, the suspects likely attacked the victims and threw them off the boat. The suspects entered Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Feb. 19, docking the boat at Walliabou Anchorage, where it was later found. The suspects were detained.

Authorities are conducting air and maritime patrols between the two islands, but the bodies have not been found, and police believe the two victims are deceased.

Overall, the crime risk in Grenada is low and in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is moderate. While there has been an increase in violent crimes in recent years, especially in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, foreign travelers are rarely the victims.
