Village officials protesting outside the People's Representative Council (DPR) building in Jakarta, Indonesia, Feb 6. Disruptions likely.

Informational

Officials from the Association of Indonesian Village Governments (APDESI) are protesting outside the People's Representative Council (DPR) in Jakarta Feb. 6 to call for the revision of the Village Law. Previous similar demonstrations have drawn hundreds of participants. Authorities have deployed 2,730 security personnel to the protest location.

Increased security measures will likely continue around the DPR building and surrounding areas through Feb. 6. Authorities have closed parts of Jalan Gatot Subrato road near the DPR building until at least 18:00, prompting localized transport disruptions; protestors could block additional roads, in particular the Jakarta Inner Ring Road. Police could disperse protesters if they attempt to bypass security barriers. Activists may engage in acts of vandalism and arson, posing incidental risks to bystanders. Clashes between security forces and demonstrators are possible, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive.

Avoid the protest site due to possible violence. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations; use alternative routes to circumvent the rally site. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
