Authorities are responding to explosions across western Pakistan in the late afternoon of Feb. 8. The suspected bombings coincide with ongoing voting in the general election. Blasts with fatalities have been reported in the following locations:

  • Lajja town, Balochistan Province: A blast outside a polling station killed at least two people and injured nine others.

  • Kharan, Balochistan Province: A blast near a vehicle killed one person and injured two others.

  • Garah Aslam area of Kulachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: An improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a police vehicle, leading to at least five fatalities and the injury of two others.

Further updates to casualty counts and attacks are likely over the coming hours. Associated localized transport and business disruptions are likely near blast sites.

Avoid the impact areas until authorities issue the all-clear and vacate the vicinity. Plan accordingly for localized transport disruptions; consider taking alternative routes to circumvent the affected area. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
