Peru: Authorities maintain state of emergency in the Pataz and Trujillo provinces of La Libertad Department through April 11
Authorities in Peru institute state of emergency in La Libertad Department's Pataz and Trujillo provinces through April 11.
Authorities are maintaining a state of emergency in Pataz and Trujillo provinces, La Libertad Department, through at least April 11 due to high crime rates in the provinces. Under the emergency measures, all social events are banned from 23:59-04:00, and some constitutional rights, including the rights to assembly, transit, and freedom from warrantless searches, are suspended. The decree also allows the armed forces to conduct law enforcement activities; in Pataz Province, the military has assumed direct control of all security operations, while in Trujillo Department, the military is supporting the National Police.
Police and military forces are likely to implement additional security measures, including checkpoints and identification checks, throughout the affected areas. Transport disruptions are possible.
Heed the instructions of security personnel. Obey the prohibition of social events 23:59-04:00. Allow for additional transport time in areas where authorities are conducting identification checks.
