Informational

Two separate rallies are taking place at Government House, Bangkok, Feb. 5. Human rights activists, led by Amnesty International, are demonstrating from 10:00 to demand authorities drop all charges against human rights activist Anon Nampha, as well as his immediate release from detainment. Land rights group People's Movement for a Just Society (P-move) is staging an indefinite sit-in protest from Feb. 5. Organizers have not announced the start time of the gathering. Dozens to hundreds of participants could join each gathering.

Authorities will likely bolster security at Government House. Localized transport disruptions are possible, especially if activists occupy nearby roads. Clashes between demonstrators and security personnel cannot be ruled out, especially if activists attempt to bypass security barriers or defy orders to disperse. Mass arrests could occur if protesters become overly disruptive or security forces determine demonstrators violate any public gathering permit requirements.

Avoid the protest site due to possible clashes. If violence occurs nearby, immediately depart the area and seek shelter at a safe nongovernmental building. Plan for possible localized transport disruptions. Heed all official security and transport advisories
