Somali activists plan to protest at the Ethiopian Embassy on Princess Gate in London from 14:30 Feb. 2. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce a Jan. 1 agreement that saw Ethiopian authorities recognize the independence of Somaliland, an otherwise internationally unrecognized breakaway region of Somalia, in exchange for access to a port in Somaliland. It is unclear how many participants may attend.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration site. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between protesters and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the Ethiopian Embassy. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
