US: Authorities to deploy additional security, close roads in Las Vegas, Nevada, through at least Feb. 12, due to Super Bowl LVIII
Officials to deploy additional security in Las Vegas, Nevada, US, through at least Feb. 12, due to Super Bowl LVIII. Protests possible.
Authorities have boosted security in Las Vegas, Nevada through at least Feb. 12 as part of the preparations for the Super Bowl football championship game. Super Bowl LVIII will be played at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada starting at 18:30 Feb. 11. Multiple other events related to the game will occur in Las Vegas.
Officials have said there are no known or credible threats to the event. Several federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies will provide security, particularly inside and around event venues. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorities have also warned that temporary flight restrictions are likely to be issued in the Las Vegas area on Feb. 11.
Authorities have also announced road closures and restrictions for Super Bowl-related events near the following locations in Las Vegas:
Allegiant Stadium Way: Closure between Hacienda Avenue and Al Davis Way, until Feb. 15.
Al Davis Way: Closure between Allegiant Stadium Way and Dean Martin Drive, until Feb. 15.
Polaris Avenue: Closure between Ali Baba Lane and Russel Road, Feb. 10-15.
Dewey Drive: Closure between Terrible's Garage Driveway to Polaris Avenue, until Feb. 15.
Dean Martin Drive: Closure between Oquendo Road and Lot N, until Feb. 15; only northbound traffic allowed between Ali Baba Lane and Tropicana Avenue Feb. 9-11.
Hacienda Avenue: Closure between Polaris Avenue and Luxor Drive until Feb. 9; closure between Polaris Avenue the east of Luxor Drive, Feb. 10-15.
Sobb Avenue: Closure between Game Changers Sports Driveway to Cameron Street, until Feb. 11.
Luxor Drive: Closure between Reno Avenue and Mandalay Bay garage, Feb. 10-12.
Additional lane restrictions will be in place in the area; further road closures, lane restrictions, and detours are possible. Transport disruptions and heightened security are also likely through at least early Feb. 12 around areas of Las Vegas where Super Bowl-related events will take place, including Mandalay Bay South Convention Center.
Demonstrations are likely near Allegiant Stadium and other areas of Las Vegas, especially Feb. 10-11. Public transportation, taxi, and ride-sharing services will likely experience a high volume of passengers and overcrowding, especially Feb. 9-12.
Allow additional time to reach your destinations if operating in Las Vegas and nearby areas of Nevada through at least Feb. 12. Strictly heed instructions from authorities. Confirm appointments in advance.
