Cambodia: Planned power outages to occur in Phnom Penh March 22-24 /update 1

Power outages to affect parts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 08:00-16:00 March 22-24 due to maintenance work. Business disruptions possible.

Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced planned power outages in parts of Phnom Penh 08:00-16:00 on the following days due to maintenance work:

  • March 22: Parts of the Khan Meanchey, Sangkat Stung, Khan Russey Keo, Khan Daun Penh, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, and Khan Prek Pnov districts.

  • March 23: Parts of Khan Sen Sok, Khan Chbar Ampov, and Khan Por Sen Chey districts.

  • March 24: Parts of Khan Sen Sok and Khan Meanchey districts.

Delays in the restoration of services are possible. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals during outages. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
