Pakistan: Increased security likely at PNS Siddique in Turbat after authorities repel March 25 militant attack /update 1
Tight security likely in Turbat, Pakistan, after national forces repel March 25 militant attack on Siddique Naval Air Station.
Increased security is likely in Turbat over the coming days following a March 25 militant attack targeting Pakistan Naval Air Station (PNS) Siddique. Preliminary information indicates that at least four assailants stormed the facility, with heavy gunfire and explosions reportedly occurring during the incident. Security forces repelled the assault and neutralized the attackers by the early hours of March 26; authorities have as yet released no official reports of casualties. PNS Siddique is co-located with Turbat International Airport (TUK). The Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Security forces will almost certainly conduct increased patrols, set up additional security perimeters, and establish checkpoints around Turbat, and especially near the TUK/PNS Siddique facility, until it becomes clear that no further attacks are imminent.
Exercise caution if operating in the affected area. Strictly heed the instructions of local authorities. Reconfirm flight schedules if booked to travel via TUK through at least late March.
