UK: Activists to demonstrate in Glasgow from 12:00 March 16
Activists plan to demonstrate at Pacific Quay and George Square, Glasgow, UK, March 16. Increased security likely.
Political activists plan two unrelated demonstrations in Glasgow on March 16; the events will occur in the following locations:
Pacific Quay: From 11:00 March 16, the association Stand Up to Racism, supported by other organizations, will denounce racist rhetoric regarding the conflict in the Middle East and immigration topics in UK politics. The event will likely attract several hundred people.
Saint George Square: From 12:00, the Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee (GGEC) will lead a protest, demanding a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Several thousand people could attend the gathering.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration sites. Though previous related demonstrations remained largely peaceful, confrontations between protesters and law enforcement officers, or among groups of rival activists cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the rally areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near demonstration areas through March 16. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
