UK: Unionized rail workers to observe various strike actions April 5-8

Rail workers affiliated with the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) will observe various strike actions April 5-8. The strikes will impact different rail operators each day and last 24 hours. Details of the strike actions are as follows:

• April 5: Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway.

• April 6: Chiltern Railways, Great Western Railway, Heathrow Express, LNER, Northern and TransPennine Express.

• April 8: c2c, Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Greater Anglia (including Stansted Express), South Western Railway (including Island Line), Southeastern, Southern, Thameslink and London Underground unionized personnel.

Rail operators affected by the strikes will likely provide limited services on affected days; cancelations and service suspensions are likely. Increased congestion is likely on available and alternative services. Increased demand for other forms of transport is probable. Residual disruptions are possible after the work stoppages conclude. Striking workers may protest outside railway stations and other transport hubs.
