France: Anti-nuclear activists to demonstrate in Le Mans, Lyon on April 26, and Bordeaux on April 27

Anti-nuclear activists to protest in multiple cities in France, April 26-27. Heightened security, transport disruptions likely.

Informational

Anti-nuclear activists plan to protest in multiple cities April 26-27. The purpose of the demonstrations is to commemorate the 38th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and to denounce the continued production of nuclear power. It is unclear how many participants may attend. Organizers plan the following protests:

  • Le Mans: Place de la Republique from 16:30 April 26.

  • Lyon: Wilson Bridge (Pont Wilson) 12:00-13:30 April 26.

  • Bordeaux: Eco-Citizen House (Maison ecocitoyenne) on Quai Richelieu from 15:00 April 27.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near either protest site on its corresponding protest day. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
