Informational

Activists from Hakbang ng Maisug plan to hold a prayer rally at Davao del Norte Sports Complex, Tagum City from 19:00 April 14. The action is to denounce President Marcos Jr.'s signature campaign to amend the 1987 Consitution of the Philippines (also known as Charter Change or Cha-Cha), based on perceptions that the amendments would pave the way for Marcos to keep himself in power. Former President Rodrigo Duterte and current Vice President Sara Duterte will speak at the rally. While turnout remains unclear, previous related rallies attracted tens of thousands of supporters.

Officials will likely heighten security at the rally site, including setting up security barricades and/or checkpoints at entry points. Pro-Marcos activists could also stage counterrallies during the prayer rally. Clashes between opposing groups of activists or between protesters and security personnel are possible. Mass arrests may occur if protesters become overly disruptive or security forces determine that demonstrators violate any public gathering permit. Localized transport disruptions are likely, especially if demonstrators occupy nearby roads. Increased congestion and demand for public transport are also probable as a large number of attendees will reach and leave the venues.

Exercise caution around the rally site. In the event of violence, leave the area immediately for a secure, nongovernment building. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations; use alternative routes to circumvent rally site. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
