Samoa, Tonga: Magnitude-5.3 earthquake occurs in South Pacific Ocean April 13

A magnitude-5.3 earthquake occurred in the South Pacific Ocean, near Samoa and Tonga, at around 23:47 April 13. The epicenter was about 132 km (82 miles) northeast of Hihifo, Tonga. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light shaking may have been felt in parts of Samoa and Tonga. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake, and significant damage is unlikely.
