A magnitude-5.1 earthquake occurred southeast of Solomon Islands at around 03:25 April 27. The epicenter was approximately 82 km (51 miles) southeast of Honiara. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 51 km (32 miles), and weak-to-light shaking was probably felt throughout the southern Solomon Islands region. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; significant damage is unlikely.
