Road safety activists are to hold a number of protests in throughout the UK April 20 to demand action for safer streets. Protests may take the form of marches on roads, road blocks, or 'critical mass' cycling events.

Planned protests include:

  • Bath: March from Orange Grove at 11:00

  • Bedford: March on Asburnham Road from Bedford Station at 14:00

  • Birmingham: Yardley Wood Road / Wake Green Road crossroads at 14:30

  • Edinburgh: St John's Road junction with Belgrave Terrace at 10:30

  • Inverness: Bellfield Park at 13:30

  • Leicester: Town Hall Square at 14:00

  • London: Herne Hill junction in Lambeth at 11:00

  • Newcastle: 'Critical mass' cycling events in Fenham, Gosforth, and Heaton at 14:00

  • North Tynemouth: 'Critical mass' cycling events in North Shields, Whitley Bay, and North Tynemouth at 14:00

  • Norwich: City Hall at 11:00

  • Nottingham: Victoria Embankment Children's Cycle Park at 11:00

  • Reading: Thames Lido at 14:00

  • Sheffield: Sheffield Trades and Labour Club and Walkley Road at Walkley Lane junction at 11:00

  • Wokingham: Elms Field Park at 14:00

Local authorities will likely deploy additional security to protest sites. Localized transport and road travel disruptions are likely around the protest site. Scuffles are possible between frustrated motorists and activists.
