Canada: Flight disruptions likely in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and Halifax through late May 27 due to severe weather
Severe weather disrupting flights across southeastern Canada, May 27; lingering flight delays, cancellations likely.
Flight disruptions will likely at airports across southeastern Canada through at least late May 27 due to severe thunderstorms that are affecting the region. As of around 17:30, authorities at Toronto Pearson (YYZ), Ottawa International (YOW), and Montreal-Trudeau International (YUL) airports are reporting numerous arrival and departure delays of various durations, and some cancellations, through at least 20:00. The US Federal Aviation Administration and Nav Canada have both reported that ground stop programs are in effect for YYZ, YOW, and YUL, as well as Billy Bishop Toronto City (YTZ), Halifax Stanfield International (YHZ), and Quebec City Jean-Lesage International (YQB) airports through at least 23:59 due to severe thunderstorms. Aviation authorities could extend ground stop measures depending on existing conditions.
Residual disruptions are possible even after weather conditions improve as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.
Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via any of the affected airports. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
