Comoros: Heightened security for the presidential inauguration in Moroni, May 26

Hundreds of security personnel will be deployed to the Malouzini Stadium in Moroni on May 26 for President Azali Assoumani's inauguration. Approximately 11,000 people, including some high-profile foreign dignitaries, are scheduled to attend. The event is scheduled to start at 08:00. Officials have announced that several road routes leading to and from the stadium will be closed on May 26.

The event and road closures will almost certainly increase traffic congestion on nearby roads through May 26. Officials could implement checkpoints on routes near and on approach to the stadium and at prominent government, residential, and diplomatic sites in the city. Disruptions could also occur at Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport (HAH), particularly as prominent persons arrive and later depart.
