The increased security measures are in response to an attack by a suspected member of the militant Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) group at Ulu Tiram police station in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Singapore officials have warned of heavy traffic and travel delays and are advising travelers to postpone non-essential travel. As of late May 19, reports indicate waiting times of three to four hours at Woodlands Checkpoint and one to three hours at Tuas Checkpoint.
