West Africa: Internet service disruptions almost certain in parts of West Africa 00:01-10:00 May 31

Internet service disruptions almost certain across multiple countries in West Africa 00:01-10:00 May 31 due to scheduled maintenance repair.

Warning

Due to scheduled maintenance, Internet and telecommunication service disruptions are almost certain across multiple locations in West Africa 00:01-10:00 May 31. Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL) has announced that planned repair work in Dakar on the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable line will impact internet communications following an undersea fiber optic failure on March 14. Outages are almost certain across several locations, including Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Senegal, and Gambia.

Affected countries will likely experience varying disruptions, ranging from slower network connections to complete outages. Disruptions to commercial and financial activities are possible until full services resume, while transport, including airport operations, may also be impacted. The outages could extend beyond the estimated restoration time.

Plan accordingly for disruptions to telecommunications, finance, and commercial operations. Consider alternative modes of communication for critical business operations. Confirm all flight reservations before leaving for the airport.
