Warning

As of late June 27, officials have increased security in New Delhi's Okhla area following protesters storming the National Testing Agency (NTA) government building. About 100 members of the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Indian National Congress (INC) party, forcefully entered the building before authorities deployed additional forces. The protest is occurring amid other demonstrations planned by organizations affiliated with the INC to denounce alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical admissions.

Additional gatherings of varying types, including sit-ins and marches, are likely. Potential gathering sites include prominent government buildings, public squares, and thoroughfares. Well-attended gatherings will almost certainly draw thousands of participants. Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security presence near sites where such demonstrations continue to materialize. Officials could use force or conduct mass arrests if activists refuse to comply with official orders. Clashes between police and protesters are possible. Associated localized transport and business disruptions are probable.

As a precaution, avoid all demonstrations. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Plan accordingly for potential localized business and transport disruptions. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
