India: Planned power outages to affect parts of Bengaluru through June 12

Planned power outages will occur in parts of Bengaluru through June 12 due to maintenance works. Utility provider Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation (KPTC) has announced that electricity disruptions will occur on the following days:

  • June 8: Ali Askar Road, Bamboo Bazaar Road, Bowring Hospital, Broadway Road, Chandini Chowk, CID, Cockburn Road, Cunningham Road, Infantry Road, MEG Centre, Miller's Road, Miller Tank Bund Road, MS Building, Queens Road, Raj Bhavan, Seppings Road, Thimmaiah Road, Vasanthnagar, Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha, VV Towers 10:00-16:00.

  • June 11: Adugodi, Adugodi, Chikka, Chikka Lakshmaiah Layout, Laljinagar, Lakkasandra, Nanjappa Layout, Salarpuria Tower, Wilson Garden 10:00-15:00.

  • June 12: Banashankari Stage 3, Girinagar 4th Phase, Hosakerehalli, JC Road, Katriguppe, KH Road, Lalbagh Road, New Timberyard (NTY) Layout, Residency Road, Richmond Circle, Sampangiramanagar, Shantinagar, Srinagar, Subbaiah Circle, Sudhamanagar, Thyagarajanagar, Veerabhadranagar, Wilson Garden 10:00-15:00.

Outages may occur in additional locations on other days. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
