A magnitude-5.3 earthquake occurred in northeastern Papua Province at around 09:11 WIT June 21. The epicenter was approximately 138 km (86 miles) southwest of Abepura, Indonesia. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 65 km (40 miles), and light shaking was probably felt in parts of northeastern Papua Province in Indonesia and western Sandaun Province in Papua New Guinea.
