Kuwait: Localized disruptions likely following fire that killed at least 41 people in Mangaf early June 12

Transport and business disruptions likely following structure fire that killed at least 41 people in Mangaf, Kuwait, early June 12.

Warning

Lingering transport and business disruptions are likely in Mangaf following a fire at a housing complex early June 12. The blaze, which has been extinguished, killed at least 41 people and injured 15 others. The building is believed to have housed foreign workers. Authorities remain on scene and are investigating the cause of the fire.

Authorities could evacuate buildings and shops in the area as a precaution. Lingering disruptions are likely as investigations and recovery operations continue.

Avoid the area out of an abundance of caution, and authorities give the all-clear. Seek alternative routes to circumvent the incident site. Allow additional time to reach destinations in the affected area through at least the evening of June 12.

Kuwait's deputy prime minister, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, visited the site earlier in the day accusing real estate owners of violations and greed, saying those factors contributed towards the incident.
