Informational

Pro-Thaksin supporters plan to rally outside the Criminal Court of Thailand in Bangkok from 07:00 June 18. The action is to support former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who is scheduled to appear at the Attorney-General's Office on a lese majeste case against him. Reports indicate Thaksin will unlikely be present for the hearing due to medical reasons. While turnout remains unclear, dozens to a hundred supporters could attend the gathering. Counterdemonstrations by the Thailand Reform Students Network (CDC) and Thai People Protecting the Monarchy are possible.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely around the main rally site. Although violence is unlikely, isolated clashes between security personnel and activists are possible if participants attempt to bypass security barriers or defy orders to disperse. Clashes between opposing groups may occur. Further traffic disruptions are possible along Ratchadaphisek Road, especially if demonstrators hold additional road blockades or street marches.

Avoid the gathering site as a precaution. If violence occurs nearby, immediately depart the area and seek shelter at a safe nongovernmental building. Plan for localized transport disruptions. Heed all official security and transport advisories
