Global IT outage affecting air travel and businesses across Asia Pacific as of July 19. Service outages likely; reconfirm flights.
A global IT outage affecting Microsoft services is prompting widespread air travel and business disruptions across Asia Pacific as of July 19. It is unclear when services will resume.
Multiple airports across the region, like in Australia, China including Hong Kong SAR, India, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and Thailand are experiencing delays and suspensions of online processing systems. Various airlines like India's Akasa Air (QP), IndiGo (6E), and SpiceJet (SG), as well as Cathay Pacific (CX), Japan Airlines (JAL), Jetstar (JQ), Virgin Australia (VA) are also impacted, leading to delays. The outage is also affecting other airlines globally, with multiple American carriers grounding flights. Additional flight delays and cancellations are probable in the coming hours. Lingering disruptions are likely after normal services resume as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.
Banking services, telecommunication, postal, and retail services are also disrupted in various areas, in addition to workplace devices and websites including media channels. Business closures and further suspension of services, especially cloud and app-based services, are likely until the situation normalizes.
Reconfirm flight schedules. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Reach airports at least three hours prior to scheduled flights to account for ongoing processing delays. Confirm business appointments; plan for service outages. Heed all official instructions, including recovery of affected accounts and devices.
