Australia: Unionized aircraft refuelers to stage rolling two-hour strikes at Sydney Airport July 31
Refuelers to observe three two-hour strikes at Sydney Airport, Australia, 02:00-04:00, 08:30-10:30, 18:00-20:00 July 31. Reconfirm flights.
Aircraft refuelers affiliated with the Transport Workers' Union (TWU) will stage three two-hour work stoppages at Sydney Airport (SYD) on July 31 to demand higher wages and better working conditions. The planned labor actions will occur 02:00-04:00, 08:30-10:30, and 18:00-20:00. Around 50 refuelers will participate in the strike. Consequent domestic and international flight delays and cancellations are highly likely.
Low-level demonstrations or pickets are possible at the airport during the strike periods. Authorities could monitor any such gatherings as a precaution. Lingering disruptions are possible for several hours after the work stoppages end.
Reconfirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via SYD on July 31. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
