Informational

Several civil society groups, including Acceptess-T, Prevention, Action, Health, Work for Transgenders (PASTT), and the Union of Sex Workers (STRASS), plan to demonstrate at Human Rights Square at Place du Trocadero in Paris from 18:00 July 16. The action aims to protest gender-based violence after the reported killing of a transgender sex worker. While turnout remains unclear, dozens to a few hundred people could attend the gathering.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely around the protest site. Counterdemonstrations are possible. Although violence is unlikely, isolated clashes between police, protesters, and rival activists cannot be ruled out. Officers may deploy to ensure order and/or erect security barricades around the square. Authorities may impose traffic restrictions, including security cordons, diversions, and road closures along Avenue Paul Doumer and Avenue du President Wilson through the evening of July 16. Transport disruptions may worsen if protesters march on or block roadways near the gathering site.

Avoid the protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations in central Paris the evening of July 16. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
