French Polynesia: Airport workers' strike causing domestic flight cancellations across the territory, as of July 24

Domestic flight disruptions occurring in French Polynesia amid strike by airport workers, as of July 24. Confirm flight reservations.

Warning

Domestic flight disruptions are occurring in French Polynesia amid an ongoing strike by unionized airport workers, as of July 24. The industrial action is causing cancellations to Air Tahiti (VT) and Air Moana (NM) flights via Bora Bora Airport (BOB), Faa'a International Airport (PPT), Raiatea Airport (RFP), and Rangiroa Airport (RGI), affecting thousands of passengers; international flights are exempt from strike-related disruptions. Limited ferry services are available to other airports although increased demand is affecting availability. Lingering flight disruptions are possible following the strike's conclusion as carriers work to clear passenger and flight backlogs. Workers may withdraw the action at short notice if negotiations succeed.

Strike-related protests are possible, mainly near airports and airline offices, as well as public squares. Dozens of people may attend each event. Minor skirmishes with security personnel cannot be ruled out, especially if demonstrators attempt to forcibly enter airports.

Aeroport de Tahiti (ADT) staff commenced the indefinite labour stoppage July 22 to demand improved working conditions.
