A magnitude-5.3 earthquake occurred in the western Pacific Ocean off the southeast coast of Okinawa at around 08:18 July 13. The epicenter was about 127 km (79 miles) south-southeast of Itoman. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and shaking was probably felt in parts of the southern Ryukyu Islands. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake, and significant damage is unlikely.
