Mongolia, Russia: Authorities to close Tsagaannuur checkpoint July 9-15 and July 19

Mongolia-Russia Tsagaannuur checkpoint to close July 9-15 and July 19; traffic to resume July 16-18 and 20. Transport disruptions likely.

Informational

Mongolian officials plan to close the Tsagaannuur checkpoint bordering Russia ahead of the Silk Road rally that will pass through the area July 9-15 and July 19. The checkpoint will be reopened July 16-18 and from July 20 onwards.

The border closure will likely cause freight transport and delivery disruptions through at least July 20, as freight operators could attempt to divert shipping routes through border checkpoints in neighboring countries such as China. After the border crossings resume operations, increased traffic congestion is possible on the A0306.

Reconfirm the status of border crossings before departure. Plan for disruptions through July 20.
