Climate activists plan a demonstration in Parliament Square, London from 12:00 July 6. The Just Stop Oil (JSO) group will call on the new UK government to end investment in fossil fuels. Several hundred to low thousands of attendees will likely take part: thousands of climate activists marched in London, June 23, and in recent days police arrested around 30 JSO members for planning protest action at airports.
Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the gathering. Road travel disruptions are likely near the affected area through July 6. Disruptions and congestion are likely at underground stations near the protest location including at Westminster Station. Violence is not anticipated.
